Flametree is hibernating for winter
08 APR '12 - 04 OCT '12
Flametree Art Garden & Gallery is now closed for its winter hibernation.

It's time for us to get out the hedge clippers and rakes and do our annual garden maintenance projects, while also sourcing inspiring artworks to bring you in the Spring.

Many thanks to all our loyal customers. We look forward to posting news through winter of upcoming gallery shows and some exciting installations due in the sculpture garden in the new season.

We will re-open on October 4th, 2012. For information about any works you may have viewed here through summer, please phone Shelley on 0274 893 071.

We'll leave you with some images from the summer season.

Ongoing Exhibition
Flametree specialises in outdoor artworks for gardens or living spaces - large or small.
Our sculpture gardens host a changing array of artworks in many materials, including ceramic, metal, stone, wood, glass, wire and Perspex.

Among other worksm, we are currently featuring three large ceramic works from ceramic artist Susan St Lawrence's Community Hearth project.

These large ceramic works are wood fired in one piece in purpose-built temporary kilns. The firing takes a whole day with fellow potters and friends helping with wood chopping, stoking and enjoying the camaraderie around the fireplace, hence the name of the project.

Looking inside these pieces you see many small artefacts that were made or donated by fellow artists and friends - including well known Auckland ceramicists Brendon Adams, Margaret Sumich and Helen Perrett - who were involved in each firing. These small treasures at the heart of the larger work represent the galaxy of dreams, hopes and memories we carry around inside outselves.

Opening hours: Thursday to Sunday, 11am - 4pm
